the different staged of material used to produce lacquerware in Burma. intersting the usage of very thin 'bendable' bamboo in combination with horse hair as seen on the right side of thye picture. This gives some of the Burmanese lacquerware the flexibility like nowadays plastic cups.
Bagan counted in ancient times over 8000 temples, stupas and other religious constructions, after several earthquakes, demolishings to use the bricks fro new constructions or to build fortified locations the last survey counted still over 2000 constructions in the Bagan Area, making Angkor Wat archaeological park looking humble in terms of numbers. (Cambodia still counts more than 2000 ancient religious sites)
